Monday 28th August, 12:15pm - there has been a huge lightning storm going on in Shanghai for the last half an hour.
We have seen buildings only 200 or 300 meters away get hit by huge lightning bolts. The thunder claps have been loud and some of them have even shaken the windows.
Visibility at one point was down to only a few hundred meters due to the torrential downpour. The rain has stopped now, but the lightning and thunder is still going strong.
Its cool! I love storms - the gloom and the moodiness of it - and particularly at the moment, the rain. Shanghai and surrounding areas is desperately short of water - bring it on!
Interested in lightning - read how it's made - from NASA so it must be right!

Here are some more cool lightening photos if you are interested.
Sizzling photo Brad!

Hi Tom,
Thanks for the compliment - however I `borrowed' that image from Wang Jian Shuo's blog. So the only thing I can claim is the skill of being able to google `Shanghai Lightning" - lol

Cool picture! It's much easier to take your own pictures using a camcorder if you are not into the high tech methods and stuff.
I have some lightning pictures on my blog. Check out friday 13 post!

Fantastic photo. Its also lightning here in Ferndown, Dorset, England 6.55pm GMT. It has been going on for about an hour now and the heavens have opened. It is very grey/yellow in the sky.
