I have to say - wow! Today we had to go to another bank to make a deposit for a product sourcing job - and compared to the last time it was a pleasurable experience.
Now I know that using the term Chinese Bank and Pleasure is an Oxymoron, but the Agricultural Bank of China must just be that oxymoron.
We found the branch on HuaiHai Road and walked in at about 4pm. We took our number and only waited 1 minute before it was our turn.
We showed the teller the account details and the amount we needed to deposit to, she gave us a slip, filled it in and (believe it or not) entered the details into a computer and gave us a printed receipt for the deposit and said that the money was now cleared. She only had to put on 2 stamps (compared to the 11 the last time).
We were in and out in less than 5 minutes. I was astounded. So well done Agricultural Bank of China - you seem to be the only bank that understands customer service and has a modern banking infrastructure.
I know who will be handling my bank accounts in the future!
Got to love that Huaihai Lu Branch of ABC. It's the international business branch and they have lots of experience dealing with foreign businesses. Since foreigners tend to have higher service expectations, maybe that's why the service was so good?

Hi John,
I thought you had disappeared.
That could explain why it was good service - it was a real surprise as I was expecting to sit down and wait for at least 1/2 an hour.
But even the processing of the paperwork was simple and effortless and fully computerised! Must be just a slightly more advanced system they use.
Cheers,
Brad
